Writing Center Reflection

Before I went to the writing center I was a little bit hesitant about going. I usually like to work on writing by myself with a teacher helping me occasionally. When I went to the writing center I met with Douglas Robins and he really helped my develop my literary analysis. I had already started my literary analysis before I went to the writing center, but I was having trouble developing the paragraphs. Douglas showed me how I could use my outline and develop my paragraphs from that starting point. This really benefited me because when I worked on my paper after by myself, I knew exactly how I should organize my paragraphs and points.

My writing fellow also helped me with quotations. I also was having trouble embedding my quotes into sentences and making it flow. Douglas showed me how to embed my quotes and how to simplify the quotes (taking out what wasn't necessary and shortening it). When I left the writing center, I left with at least three well-developed supporting paragraphs. I also left with a great introduction paragraph that my writing fellow helped strengthen. Overall, I benefited from going to the writing center and I would recommend for people to go.
